Daniel Steegmann Mangrané
Branch with blades, 2024

17 × 20 × 11 (with base)
Edition of 11, all unique
Branch with blades, is the latest work from an ongoing series of sculptures by Daniel Steegmann Mangrané, using found branches and twigs, which are carefully altered, split in two or partially incised to hold delicate metal leaves. In a variety of configurations, whether suspended, posed or hung, these pieces bring effects of symmetry, tension, and balance into play. This edition is the first in the series to integrate brass blades of grass handmade and oxidized by the artist. The central twigs are pierced and the blades are suspended through the wood. The edition comes with a wooden support and can be displayed upright with positioned in the base, flat on a surface or hung on the wall.
