Living Sculpture — the Stare is a photogram taken from La Réserve, a film that was part of the project Charlotte Moth completed for the Marcel Duchamp Prize, which was exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in the autumn of 2017. Moth’s film takes place in a former hydraulic factory along the Seine where the plaster sculptures of the Conservation des œuvres d’art religieuses et civiles de la Ville de Paris have been stored since 1972. In this large hall filled with municipal treasures inaccessible to the public, the artist captures in black and white the incongruous dialogues between eclectic personalities and eras. Covered in dust, these fragmented and fragile bodies tell their stories.
