Emotional Curative Maintenance consists of eight stainless steel plates of various sizes arranged in sequence along a wall. The panels in the piece are taken from public or semi-public contexts, where they have been used on high-traffic doors to protect against bumps and knocks. The material properties of stainless steel are characterized by durability and particular resistance to corrosion. Pierre Allain used steel plates which have come into contact with bodies and which bear signs of use. The title alludes to machines in a state of inoperability, undergoing repair referred to as curative maintenance.
