To the man who once told me to clean my hands because they were dirty, 2023

Archival inkjet print on an oak frame
60 × 30 cm
Edition of 5

To the man who once told me to clean my hands because they were dirty resonates with a recent series of photographs made up of still lives titled Technique et Sentiment, in which the artist’s body is always shown in a fragmented way. Parts of the body are shown in action, performing gestures, or simply placed in context with other archival documents such as photographs, textiles or objects. The series thus focuses on gestures, objects and images, and draws particular attention to their meaning in the context of a grouping of visual images. For Robert, it is a question of reappropriating the image of his body through the chosen context.
