The Cracks, 2021

The Cracks consists of capturing the accidental cracks that occurred in Marcel Duchamp’s Le Grand verre  (1915-23) and has been part of this iconic work ever since. It is an attempt to highlight this artistic “gesture”, the openness to the random, the inclusion of suddenness and unexpectedness in the already completed work. At the same time, this imprint is for us a gesture of revealing the intangible, that element in a work of art that exists and does not exist. Cracks, while being there, point to a lack of matter, to a fragility.
